THE MAN WHO TRIED TO SUE THE DEVIL
United States ex rel. Mayo v. Satan and His Staff
The District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania dismissed the case, saying: “Even if plaintiff's complaint reveals a prima facie recital of the infringement of the civil rights of a citizen of the United States, the Court has serious doubts that the complaint reveals a cause of action upon which relief can be granted by the court.” The court also noted that the plaintiff had not provided instruction on how the US Marshal was to serve Satan with court documents.
